Travel to the eastern coastal city of Trincomalee, known for its connection to Lord Shiva.Visit the historic Koneswaram Temple, built atop a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean — also called the Temple of a Thousand Pillars. According to legend, this is where King Ravana prayed to Lord Shiva, seeking forgiveness.
After breakfast, drive to Kandy, the sacred hill capital.
Visit a Sri Baktha Hanuman Temple in Ramboda, built and maintained by the Chinmaya Mission, located at 1,400 meters above sea level.
It is believed that Lord Hanuman first landed here in search of Sita Devi.
Later, enjoy a short stop at Ramboda Falls, one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful waterfalls.
Proceed to Nuwara Eliya, known as Little England and the believed location of Ashok Vatika, where Sita Devi was held captive by King Ravana. Visit the Sita Amman Temple, the most important Ramayana site in Sri Lanka, located in Sita Eliya. See the Sita Eliya stream, believed to have been used by Sita Devi, and the footprints of Lord Hanuman on a nearby rock.
Travel to Ella, one of Sri Lanka’s most scenic regions.
Visit the Ravana Falls, named after the mighty King Ravana — said to have hidden Sita Devi in the Ravana Cave, located behind the waterfall.
You can explore the cave’s entrance and enjoy stunning mountain views surrounding the area.
Drive south to Kataragama, one of the most sacred sites in Sri Lanka, worshipped by Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims alike. It is believed that Lord Karthikeya (Murugan), the son of Lord Shiva, lived here after the war. Visit Ussangoda, a mysterious red-soiled plateau by the sea — believed to be one of the landing sites of Ravana’s mythical flying machine, the Pushpaka Vimana.
On your final day, drive along the southern coast toward Galle, an ancient port city that once connected India and Sri Lanka. Depending on your flight time, enjoy a Colombo city tour before heading to the airport.
